Competition Terms and Conditions
  1. The competition start date is the 1st March 2026. The competition end date is the close of business, 30th June 2026. Winners will be drawn on the 1st July 2026, and owners will be notified by phone.
  2. The competition sign up period is between 1st and 31st March 2026 and is completed during a weight management consultation with a nurse.
  3. The animal can only be signed up to the competition if the consulting nurse or treating veterinarian determines that weight management is suitable and in the best interest of the animal. Tropical Vets staff have the right to decline signing an animal up to the program if they determine that the animal is either underweight or does not require weight management, or if they feel that the use of any of the products associated with the program would be nutritionally unsuited to the animal (i.e. due to the animals current health condition or weight at the time of the consultation. This includes the appropriate management of other underlying health concerns).
  4. The initial weight consultation for the promotion is only complimentary (free of charge) when completed by a nurse. Standard consultation fees will apply if this consultation is undertaken by a vet.
  5. Upon signing up a pet for the competition, the owner agrees to allow Tropical Vets staff to take photos of their competing pet, to be used for marketing and promotional purposes.
  6. The first weigh-in for the animal must be undertaken in clinic on the day of the initial consultation and recorded on the animal’s file.
  7. Owners are required to weigh-in their pet at least once each month of the competition to remain eligible for a prize. This can be:
    1. In conjunction with a consultation
    2. By attending the clinic and weighing in on the reception scales (any time during open hours). Note this weigh-in must be recorded on file by staff.
  8. The recommendations provided by a nurse or veterinarian to pet owners during consultations are advice only and rely on the full disclosure of correct information provided by the owner regarding their animal’s health (including existing conditions and medications).
  9. Pet owners are required to comply with the recommendations made by the nurse or veterinarian for the duration of the competition. Non-compliance or use of extreme measures by the owners is not condoned and if owners are suspected of non-compliance or negligence, they will be removed from the competition.
  10. Each participant (animal) requires its own consultation in order to participate in the competition to ensure all animals are recommended an appropriate diet and exercise routine to suit the animal’s individual needs. Only animals which have received a consultation will be eligible for discounts or prizes associated with the competition. The promotional offers are available on a per animal basis (for each animal signed up), not per owner. Therefore, if an owner has multiple pets, the promotional offers are only applicable to those which are signed up.
  11. The Royal Canin diet recommended by the nurse or vet must be used for that animal for the duration of the promotion (01.03.26-30.06.26) for the animal to be eligible for the promotional discount and prize/s. The only exception to this is if there is a palatability issue – in which case the animal can switch products, provided that this occurs within two weeks of the initial consultation (sign-up).
  12. The food eligible for the promotion, including the 50% off discount and winner prizes, includes the following products within the canine range only:
    1. Royal Canin Satiety Dog 12kg (dry food)
    2. Royal Canin Satiety Dog 6kg (dry food)
    3. Royal Canin Satiety Small dog 3kg (dry food)
    4. Royal Canin Urinary + Satiety Dog 3.5kg (dry food)
    5. Royal Canin Urinary + Satiety Dog 9kg (dry food)
    6. Royal Canin Urinary + Satiety Small Dog 3kg (dry food)
    7. Royal Canin Satiety Dog 410g tin (wet food)
  13. Purchases within the select range of food within the promotion will still be eligible for the loyalty programs as set by Royal Canin. For more information on this, please ask Tropical Vets staff.
  14. The palatability guarantee offered by Royal Canin remains unchanged by the promotion (therefore, these remain as stated in the palatability guarantee terms and conditions).
  15. If a palatability claim is made for a food included in the promotion, the owner may, under veterinary guidance, transition their pet to an alternative brand to support continued weight management. However, doing so will result in forfeiture of that pet’s entry in the competition.
  16. Food purchases will be monitored and must remain within a reasonable dietary tolerance percentage – therefore, the amount of food must not be deemed excessive to meet the animal’s dietary needs based on its individual weight, health and nutritional requirements. Excessive purchases made by owners during the promotion will be questioned. If it is suspected that owners are over exploiting the promotional offer, Tropical Vets has the right to remove the pet/s signed up under the name of the owner from the competition, thereby removing the associated discount/s and the owner’s ability to claim a winning prize for any of their pets.
  17. A winner for each competition category (dogs under 11kgs, or dogs 11kg and over) will be determined based on the total percentage body weight lost from the first weigh in at the initial consultation to the final weigh in (last weight recorded for that animal by close of business 30th June 2026). Final weights must be witnessed by a Tropical Vets staff member and recorded on the animal’s file.
  18. The winners will receive three months’ supply of weight management food the diet assigned to the winning pet for the competition. Three months’ supply will be determined based on the animal’s breed, weight and dietary requirements as per the feeding recommendations set by Royal Canin and cannot be redeemed for cash.
  19. Final percentage of weight lost will be calculated using the last recorded weight on file for the competing animal. All weigh ins, including final weigh ins, must be completed between the date of sign up and close of business 30th June 2026.
