Julia loves veterinary science with an interest in birds, exotics, reptiles, as well as anaesthesia and surgery in dogs and cats. She joined Lacey and Gough in 1986 and following locums in the UK became a partner/director of Innisfail/Tully Vet Clinic in 1995 which became Tropical Vet Services in 2011. She and Russell married in 1992. She enjoys long walks with her dog “Sassie”, gardening, yoga and travel.
Graham started work in Tully in 1996. Graham enjoys all aspects of Veterinary work in Tropical North Queensland. He deals with the region's Cassowaries in conjunction with Qld National Parks. He has co-authored a number of articles on this iconic endangered species. Graham lives near Tully with his wife Helen and 2 children. When not at work Graham enjoys golf and bushwalking. Graham is based in Tully but spends time in Mission Beach and Cardwell as the need arises.
Don grew up on a dairy farm on the Atherton Tablelands and returned home to North Queensland to work for Tropical Vets in 2007. Don enjoys all the challenges mixed Veterinary Practice presents. Don currently lives in North Shore Townsville with his wife Tracey, their three kids and dog Polly. Don enjoys travelling and spending as much time as possible with his family.
Callan graduated from James Cook University in 2012. He received the University Medal for his academic achievements. Callan is a local North Queensland lad having grown up in Ingham. Callan's interests are mixed and varied but include Beef Cattle. Callan owns and operates his own herd of purebred Brahman cattle. Callan is based at our Ingham surgery but will be seen at our Cardwell clinic from time to time.
Kelly graduated from James Cook University in 2012. Kelly is originally from Cairns. Kelly is very interested in working in mixed practice and works with us in Ingham due to the variety of animals that are in the area. Kelly will occasionally be seen working at our Cardwell clinic.
Kati works at our Innisfail clinic and in our Babinda clinic on Wednesdays. Kati is originally from Finland but has lived in Far North Queensland since 2003 and is a James Cook University graduate. She enjoys the variety of work that working in a mixed practice provides and especially enjoys working with cattle and ruminants. Her other interests involve small animal medicine and in-clinic pathology. She is most passionate about improving the quality of life for patients with arthritis, finding permanent relief for the itchy dog and beating pet obesity. Kati and her husband Jeff are the proud owners of a “second-hand dog” called Toro (7 yo Cane Corso). In her spare time Kati practices yoga, rides her mountain bike and is planning a return to adventure sports.
Having grown up in Innisfail, Brianna has returned to the area after graduating from University of Queensland in 2014 with first class honours. Brianna is a horse enthusiast – having had her own horse on location with her at UQ in Gatton for three years. She enjoys the varied life of a mixed practice vet with a special interest in horses. Brianna is based at our Tully clinic and can be seen in Mission Beach from time to time. When not working, Brianna enjoys being outdoors, keeping fit, exploring the local area and being part of the local community. She is a keen netball player and loves baking biscuits and slices for work.
Zane is a North Queensland local. Having grown up in Innisfail he is very used to the humidity and the wet season. Zane started working for us in our Ingham clinic but has relocated this year to our Innisfail clinic. Zane has a wide range of interests in Veterinary Science. He enjoys hiking, races both mountain bikes and motorbikes and enjoys exploring what the local region has to offer. Zane is a mad fisherman and especially enjoys spearfishing, I am quite sure a lot of his spare time will be spent on trips to the reef. If you want any tips on how to catch a crayfish he is your man.
Shannon is a North Queensland local growing up on a cattle property near Greenvale. Shannon graduated from James Cook University in 2014 and has worked in the North Queensland area since. Shannon has a keen interest all mixed practice work especially working with cattle and horses.
Originally from Cairns, Pat graduated from James Cook University in 2015. He works at our Tully and Mission beach clinics and is interested in all aspect of veterinary medicine. Pat volunteers and fundraises for a charity called Community and Veterinary Services for Southern Africa. He spent a lot of time with the charity before he graduated and improved his clinical and surgical skills while working with them. The first solo operation he ever performed was in a caravan in a township in South Africa! Pat enjoys mountain biking, travelling and wildlife photography.
Katie was raised on a cattle property just south of Proserpine. From a young age, she was always surrounded by animals big or small! Katie graduated from JCU in 2012. Since then she has worked in various mixed animal clinics along the North Queensland coast. Katie enjoys the variety of case load seen in mixed practice with a particular interest in horses and cattle.
Sarah graduated from JCU in 2015 after wanting to be a vet for as long as she remembers. She grew up in Townsville with her family and dog, Mitzi, who helped her pursue her dream job by tolerating her curiosity through all of her schooling to now at the beginning of her career!
After graduating, Sarah worked in Kalgoorlie, WA, for a while before moving back to beautiful North Queensland with her partner and cat, Bailey. Sarah has a soft spot for 'small furries' and especially enjoys all aspects of small animal medicine. When not working, Sarah enjoys fishing, camping, swimming and the lifestyle of a small town which seems a perfect match for her base in our Tully Clinic.
After graduating from James Cook University in 2015 and working in South East Queensland for a year, Lauren has returned to work in her home town. She is based in our Ingham clinic and has an interest in both small and large animals. She enjoys horse-riding, yoga and baking in her spare time.
One of the newest additions to our staff, Dr Tobin Stubbs, comes to us from the Burdekin where he was born and raised. He grew up on a cane farm and always had many pets, from pigs to dogs as well as a barramundi pond. He has an interest in surgery and is excited to join our North Shore team in Townsville for the opportunity to advance his skills - particularly in orthopaedic surgery.
